SEE GREY SEALS AND SEA-BIRDS IN THEIR NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
The boat can run round the back of Flodigarry and Staffin Islands which are the best places for watching marine wild and bird-life.
The islet behind Flodigarry island has a colony of grey seals with a great chance to view these wonderful creatures at close range. Puffins also breed here in burrows, but are more usually seen bobbing on the surface of the water before diving under - they are expert swimmers. The list of other frequently-sighted sea-birds include everything from Eider ducks, Shags, black Guillemots, cormorants and razorbills. If you are lucky you might even catch glimpse of a magnificent sea-eagle!
In the summer months the area is frequently visited by basking sharks. These huge but harmless creatures feed only on plankton but are the second largest fish in the world - the size of a double-decker bus.
